The Rotary Foundation’s revenue comprises contributions and investment earnings. Since 1917, when the Foundation received its first contribution of $26.50, the generosity of Rotarians and friends of Rotary has been one of steadfast commitment to doing good in the world. In 2009-10, The Rotary Foundation’s contributions were $268.5 million.
Over the past 10 years, 88 percent of the Foundation’s total spending was for programme awards and operations. Each year, The Rotary Foundation funds three principal program areas: Humanitarian Grants, Educational Programmes and PolioPlus. In 2009-10, The Rotary Foundation’s total expenses were $226.6 million, of which $204.9 million was for awards and program operations.
