We had a lot of fun organising all-day activities for kids in SOS Children's Village in Siedlce last Saturday.
It was a great pleasure to organise this event together with Rotaract Wilanów International, Rotary Club Warszawa Belweder, Rotary Club Warszawa Józefów, Rotary Club Warszawa Goethe and their many friends and families.

Today's meeting had a heavy Ukraine theme. As a club we agreed to contribute 1,000 zł to a district-wide project "Zdrowie Dzieci Ukrainy" (Health of the Children from Ukraine"). It is one of the main District projects being manager by the Chair of the Ukrainian Inter Country Committee Ryszard Luczyn from the RC Zamosc Ordynacki. Every year in July-August they are organizing a summer camp for war orphans, kids who lost their fathers in the war in Eastern Ukraine. The kids and teenage kids come to Zakopane and Krakow and spend their time visiting, playing and interacting with Polish children trying to forget the horror of war.
Additionally, our member Tatiana Benkendorf brought us back a flag from her visit to the Rotary Club of Kyiv City.

2017 Annual Charity Ball
Data: 8 March 2018
On November 18th 2017 Rotary Warszawa-Wilanów held their Annual Charity Ball at the Intercontinental Hotel in Warsaw in aid of the charity SOS Children's Villages (SOS Wioski Dziecięce). It was a very successful event with over 100 guests from all walks of Warsaw life including many from the international community. The fund raising events included lotteries, games and of course auctions including that of children's paintings. The evening also included beautiful chamber music played by children and adults and of course dancing until the early hours with music provided by a top class DJ. A wonderful evening enjoyed by all!
SOS Children's Villages are an international charity very active in Poland. They look after children who have been orphaned, abandoned or who are unable to be looked after by their families for a variety of reasons. The children often come at a very young age and stay until they are 18 or sometimes older. They are looked after by mamas (and sometimes papas) who are specially selected for their parenting skills and empathy in houses of up to 6 children. The houses are located in specially built villages within Poland. Rotary Warszawa-Wilanow through its activities helps support the village in Siedlce located about 50km from Warsaw. It has to be added that SOS Children's Villages does a phenomenal job in bringing severely distressed children to normal adulthood.
Rotary Warszawa-Wilanów are holding the 2018 Annual Charity Ball at the Bellotto Hotel in Warsaw on October 20th at 7pm and will also be raising money for SOS Children's Villages.

Second, we sponsor our Rotaract Club in their hands on projects with the children from The SOS Village in Siedlice.

Our club has a long tradition of helping to publish books written by Polish World War II veterans. So far, nine books have been published and disseminated for educational purposes to schools, museums and other public institutions. With passing of time, these personal accounts of resistance and outmost bravery against two totalitarian systems will continue to serve as shining examples for future generations.
