The motto of Rotary International is ‘service above self’. In its charitable activities Warsaw-Wilanow Rotary Club seeks to live up to that ideal.
The Club donates regularly to the Rotary Foundation, and in particular to its campaign, conducted jointly with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate the scourge of polio. In 2007-2010 Warsaw-Wilanow RC has contributed to that project more than half the total raised by Clubs of District 2230.
Since its establishment in 1996 the Club has raised and disbursed more than 1,000,000zł to other initiatives to assist the disadvantaged. Sadly it is impossible for an individual Rotary club to meet all the needs that are brought to its attention; Warsaw-Wilanow Rotary Club focuses its local activities on three broad themes:
· Children from underprivileged or dysfunctional families
· Health care
· Community development
In recent years RC Warsaw-Wilanów has supported projects in all three areas, making donations either alone or jointly with other Rotary Clubs and other organisations, from Poland and from other countries.
More detailed information about projects we have undertaken or that are in course is given here.
