Around the world 200,000 sat down on, or shortly after 25 January to celebrate the 252nd anniversary of the birth of the great Scottish poet Robert Burns.
Members and guests of the Warsaw-Wilanów Rotary Club together with members of Warsaw’s Scottish community celebrated Burns Night on 25 January 2011 at the Polonia Palace hotel.
The Programme for this traditional Scottish evening included pre-dinner drinks, an introduction to the life and works of Robert Burns, and Scottish Dinner, including Haggis, with wine and whisky and Burns’ poems read by members and friends of the Club. The Toast to the Lassies was proposed by Mr. Alan Jarman, Chief Executive HSBC, Poland and Mrs Barbara Stachowiak-Kowalska MBA MBE replied on behalf of the Lasses.
