The Warsaw Wilanów Rotary Club is organising a fundraising event on Tuesday 28 June to raise funds for reconstruction efforts after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Our “Dram for Japan” evening will take the form of a Whisky Tasting Tour followed by Dinner with all funds raised going to help survivors and reconstruction after the quake and tsunami.
Ties between Japan and Scotland go back a long way. Sir Thomas Glover set up Japans’ first shipbuilding yards, built the first steam railway engine and founded what is known today as Mitsubishi. His Japanese wife Tsuru was the inspiration for the book Madame Butterfly and the opera based on it..
The Whisky Tasting Tour will be lead by Martyn O’Reilly, Rotary Club Member and Scottish Whisky Ambassador, who will be presenting five malt whiskies donated by Saltire International.
It is expected that those attending will make a donation to the disaster relief in Japan of a minimum of PLN 100.
All funds raised will be forwarded to the Polish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce whose objective is to restore the roof of the School in the City of Ishinomak.
The number of participants is limited to 50. So, please, don’t just mark Dram for Japan, 7.00pm on 28 June at the Polonia Palace Hotel but let Martyn know as soon as possible that you plan to attend by e-mailng him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
